The “Lisa O” Bronze sculpture by Jacklyn Marcus

Commissioned by Willows Community School

Bronze Eccentric  “Lisa O”

This memorial sculpture is in memory of Lisa Olshansky. Lisa helped to found The Willows Community School. She was dedicated and passionate about its excellence and continuing growth. The inspiration for the shape of this piece was to remind viewers of the circle of life. The hole in the center representing the loss of Lisa, while the surrounding metal represents the legacy she left behind.

Lisa and her family are personal friends and to this day serve as a role model to us and many of Lisa’s friends.

On the technical side the sculpture is made from plate bronze.  It stands 7 feet in diameter and weighs 2000 pounds. The making of this piece involved rolling the metal, welding and grinding until it appears as a solid piece of bronze.

Installation – Because of the size installed with a crane on a 3500 pound below grade concrete base leaving the appearance of resting on the grass.

It has a permanent home at Willows Community School where it sits between two willow trees. The beauty of the piece is that it continues to change as it patinas and its shape is magnetic to the children who love to play on it.
